On November 13, 1964, plaintiff in error, Joseph J. Hawkins (hereinafter the defendant), pleaded guilty to three counts of issuing worthless checks in Dane county in violation of sec. 943.24, Stats. The county court accepted defendant's plea, adJudged him guilty of the three counts, and remanded him to the sheriff's custody pending a presentence investigation and report by the department of public welfare. Defendant, who had issued other worthless checks in four counties other than Dane county, then applied, pursuant to sec. 956.01 (13), for consolidation of all charges for offenses committed in these four other counties with the Dane county charges. Sec. 956.01 (13) provides in part as follows: ""(13) Plea of guilty to offenses committed in several counties. (a) Application. Any person who admits that he has committed felonies or violations of s. 943.24, or both, in the county in which he is in custody and also in another county in this state, may apply to the district attorney of the county in which he is in custody to be charged with those crimes so that he may plead guilty and be sentenced for them in the county of custody. The application shall contain a description of all admitted crimes and the name of the county in which each was committed.
